The Sony Alpha 9 III features the world’s first global shutter full-frame stacked CMOS image sensor with approximately 24.6 effective megapixels and built-in memory, combined with the latest BIONZ XR® image processing engine. It achieves blackout-free continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking.

The camera features high-density, focal-plane phase-detection AF and a dedicated AI processing unit that utilizes Real-Time Recognition AF for highly precise recognition of a wide variety of subjects. Its combination of high-speed performance, up to 120 fps, and accurate subject recognition allows for the effortless capture of decisive scenes and moments beyond what the naked eye can perceive. The AI processing unit in the Sony Alpha 9 III supports both movies and stills, offering accurate recognition of subject form and movement.

The Sony Alpha 9 III significantly improves human eye recognition performance with Real-time Eye AF and Real-time Tracking. These features automatically recognize, track, and focus on the eyes of a specified subject.

The maximum shutter speed is 1/8000 of a second, and for continuous shooting, it is 1/16000 of a second. When a compatible Sony flash is attached, it is possible to synchronize the flash and take pictures at all shutter speeds up to 1/8000 of a second. When shooting stills or movies under LED lighting, the High-Frequency Flicker function can significantly reduce flicker problems by finely adjusting the shutter speed to match the monitored flicker frequency in real time. Sony’s pre-burst feature captures moments for 1 second before the shutter button is pressed, significantly reducing the chances of missing any desired shots.

The Alpha™ series has reached a significant milestone with this camera, becoming the first to offer 4K 120p high-frame-rate video recording without cropping. It also allows for shooting high-resolution 4K 60p videos with 6K oversampling. The Alpha 9 III introduces S-Cinetone™, a feature developed from the VENICE digital cinema camera that enhances the beauty of human skin and subjects by creating natural highlights. Furthermore, this camera boasts the latest video performance capabilities, including rich gradation and S-Log3.
