29 APR 2022. In celebration of the centenary of the Latvian Olympic Committee, a special book entitled "Olympic Medals for Latvia" was published. This unique book reflects the achievements of 117 Latvian Olympic medalists under different flags
Olympic medals for Latvia book includes athletes who won Olympic medals under the Latvian flag, Latvian athletes who were Olympic medalists as part of the USSR team, Olympic medalists born in Latvia or of Latvian origin in teams of other countries, and athletes who represented Latvian sports associations and won medals at the Olympic Games. Additionally, the book features visual elements from the Olympic Games such as medals won, logos, mascots, and posters. This allows readers to learn about the history of the Olympic movement through the prism of Latvia’s achievements.

About Latvian Olympic Committee
The Latvian Olympic Committee (LOK) was established in 1922 and reformed in 1988 after a period of suspension due to Soviet occupation. It was officially recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1991. The LOK coordinates Latvia’s participation in the Olympic Games and organizes events like the Latvian Olympiad.
Latvia has a rich Olympic history, with participation dating back to 1924. During the Soviet occupation from 1940 to 1988, Latvian athletes competed as part of the USSR delegation. Since regaining independence in 1991, Latvia has competed in every Summer and Winter Olympics.
